Working in close cooperation with contact lens specialists, eye clinics and our R&D department, we have developed innovative products in the field of medical contact lenses, all made possible with our unique manaufacturing technology.
Traditionally, rigid gas permeable lenses are prescribed to patients with keratoconus, however soft alternatives now exist offering greater comfort and potentially longer wearing times. These soft lenses are manufactured in modern materials such as Silicone Hydrogel and are individually made to the patient’s requirements, optimising fit and vision. They can also offer the patient the option of occasional wear for hobbies and sports activities.
SwissLens also offers conventional rigid gas-permeable contact lenses for keratoconus:
Rigid gas permeable contact lenses have been traditionally used on Irregular Corneas after LASIK and especially after keratoplasty procedures. With the advent of new advanced manufacturing technologies customised soft lenses can now be lathe cut to accommodate corneal shape and corneal irregularities resulting in an optimal fit across the entire corneal surface.
SwissLens has developed the innovative “HydroMed” soft lens with a bi-curve or tri-curve back surface option. This allows an excellent fit, avoiding pressure on any part of the anterior corneal surface promoting comfort and potentially longer wearing times. These lenses are made in high permeable materials such as Silicone Hydrogel allowing an optimal supply of oxygen.
SwissLens offer the following rigid gas-permeable contact lenses:
Bandage lenses are constant use lenses, used after injury or surgery protecting vulnerable eye tissue from the outside environment.
SwissLens has two purpose designed bandage function lenses, made in two sizes and two materials:
Baby lenses are usually used when fitting newborns or young children after the removal of the crystalline lens. Because the babies’ eye is still not fully grown the contact lens is designed with a compensating geometry and in a small diameter. Aphakic patients will necessarily require high plus prescriptions and the Baby lens can be ordered with powers of up to +40.00 dioptres.
By default we produce the baby lens “Orbis-B” in diameters between 12.00 and 13.00 mm. Smaller diameters are possible after consultation our professional service team.
To ensure the maximum oxygen supply, we use the Igel77 and the Silicone Hydrogel Definitive74 materials
